Gil Scott Heron–Rest In Peace

Gil Scott Heron (1974)

Gil Scott Heron:

Poet, Singer, Musician, and also coined “Godfather of Rap” dies at 62 yrs old. He pretty much single handedly created “Spoken Word” poetry. Most famous for his “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, he took a 16-year hiatus before releasing his recent crtically acclaimed album “I’m New Here” in 2010.  He’s been mixing Poetry, Jazz, Soul, and Politics for over 40 years.  The self-proclaimed “Bluesician” worked with many “conscious rapper” hip hop heavy weights such as Common, Kanye West and Mos Def over the last several years. His achievements and catalogue is to expansive to fit in a quick blogpost, so if you are interested do a bit of research.   He will be sorely missed….R.I.P.
